•VINCENT : IT'S ONLY WASTELAND, MUM TO BE RELEASED 31 OCTOBER 2008 ON BLANKRECORDS

In 2006 Tobias Vethake and I took to the German countryside at 7V Studios. The solitude and the unbelievable collection of instruments, toys and effects at our disposal made us productive. The 16 tracks were written on the spot. We would improvise a piece of music and then take turns recording new instruments over what we just improvised. Bouncing ideas back and forth, running drums through guitar pedals, playing banjos through baby monitors. This is ambient experimental country music at it's best.

•LAST ONE STANDING
The best part of this snow ball fight competition for me was working with the Universal Gospel Choir. Mixing electronics with live instrumentation and a full choir was an amazing feeling. Here is a short video about the work we did together:

•NEW ALBUM IN THE WORKS

Johannesburg based Uncorp Records will be releasing my new solo album, Hands&Feet, later this year.

We kicked things off in April when I invited people into the studio to be sampled, looped, simplified and totally reconstructed. Literally, be a part of the album. Here's a short video of the evening made of stills by Justin Barlow.

•FIVE MEN THREE MISSING DISBANDED
After a great run, with a lot of support from our fans, and some great gigs around the country, Five Men Three Missing is indeed over.

5M3M was only possible through a meeting of two extremely different personalities and backgrounds that were João Orecchia + Emile Hoogenhout. With João bringing experimental approaches to live music, looping and sampling and Emile's top notch drumming and synth playing it was a winning combination.

As things often go with such different personalities it became harder and harder to agree on things, especially band management. Tension built until it exploded and became personal. It became clear we could not work together anymore. It's sad to see it go, but I know great things will come in future.

I am greatful for all the support that helped make Five Men Three Missing a great band.
